Essential Learning is Selected by Iowa Child
Welfare Coalition to Provide Online Training State-Wide
San Diego, California (October 1, 2009)
Essential Learning (EL), the leading provider of e-learning to
the human service industry, has been selected by the Coalition
for Family and Children's Services in Iowa to provide online
learning to Iowa child welfare providers through The Child
Welfare Provider Training Academy.
The Child Welfare Provider Training Academy is
funded by the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide
free, high quality child welfare training to Iowa providers.
Training must meet DHS model best practices and outcomes
identified by the federal Child and Family Services Review (CFSR).
The Academy will expand its training to
include online opportunities by providing Essential Learning’s
interactive courses to meet state and federal training
standards. The Coalition has selected EL’s comprehensive Social
Services Library which offers approximately 750 training hours
in compliance, paraprofessional staff development and CEUs for
licensed professional staff. EL’s health and human services
courses are accredited for continuing education by 47 national
and state licensing boards. Using EL courses, participants can
maintain their credentials and keep up-to-date on industry best
practices.
Essential Learning currently provides
state-wide e-learning initiatives in Georgia, Louisiana,
Missouri, New Mexico and Kansas to meet state mandated training
requirements. EL is also the exclusive e-learning partner for
the Child Welfare League of America and more than 40 leading
national and state association partners.
“Iowa joins other states across the country
that have successful implemented cost-effective online training
programs for providers to meet state-wide mandated training
requirements and access quality courses. We are very excited to
offer this online training opportunity to Iowa child welfare
providers and look forward to working with the Coalition for
Family and Children's Services in Iowa,” said Sue Erskine, CEO
of Essential Learning.
“This is a big step forward for the expansion
of The Child Welfare Provider Training Academy. Essential
Learning’s course library had all the content we need to provide
excellent professional development opportunities to child
welfare agencies in our state. E-learning also offers an
exciting option for agencies that may have difficulty sending
staff to live trainings. We can’t wait to get started with this
initiative,” said Katie Clark, LMSW, Child Welfare Training
Academy Director.
